THE HANGOVER

Are you afraid of waking up with a hangover that may ruin your day after a big night-out of drinking?

Hangover is a group of unpleasant physical and mental symptoms that a person experience after drinking more alcohol than the body can handle. Symptoms include headache, nausea, vomiting, thirst, fatigue, increased sensitivity to light and sound, dizziness, decreased attention, alteration in memory and mood changes (anxiety, irritability)1.

LiviUp®, THE SOBER PILL

You no longer need to suffer the consequences after a fun happy hour night with friends. Say goodbye to hangovers with LiviUp®, which is formulated to effectively fight hangover symptoms to keep you feeling great and energized.

DECREASE ALCOHOL EFFECTS ON THE BRAIN

Alcohol consumption has profound effects on the brain. Alcohol is absorbed into the bloodstream which then travels to the brain and increases the amount of an inhibitory neurotransmitter, GABA2,3. With the increased amount of GABA, the processing ability of the brain slows down2,3.

Dihydromyricetin subdues the surge of GABA in the brain caused by alcohol to prevent the sedating effects on thoughts, memory, judgement, movement and speech2,4.

DETOXIFICATION

Alcohol is mainly metabolized in the liver into acetaldehyde by an enzyme called alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH)5. Acetaldehyde is a highly toxic substance that damages the liver (alcoholic liver disease)5. High levels of acetaldehyde is hypothesized to cause hangover symptoms such as facial flushing, headache and nausea. Acetaldehyde is further metabolized into a less toxic compound known as acetate by another enzyme called aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH)5. Acetate is then finally broken down to water and carbon dioxide in the tissues5. In the Asian population, approximately 30% suffer from genetic mutation resulting in reduced production of these two enzymes leading to an excess buildup of acetaldehyde and the phenomenon called “Asian flush syndrome”6.

Dihydromyricetin enhances the activity of the enzymes ADH and ALDH to reduce the intensity of facial flushing, headache, nausea and other undesirable symptoms4.

ANTIOXIDANT

Another detrimental effect of alcohol metabolism is the production of free radicals. These radicals cause damage to cell membranes leading to alcohol-induced oxidative tissue injuries7.

Silybum marianum protects the liver by scavenging free radical damage to alleviate the harmful health consequences of excessive alcohol consumption8.

REPLENISH VITAMIN B1 (THIAMINE)

Thiamine, also known as vitamin B1, is an essential nutrient required by all tissues especially in the brain for the functioning of biochemical reactions9. It is not made in the body, but must be obtained from diet or supplements9. Alcohol consumption can cause thiamine deficiency through malabsorption of thiamine from the gastrointestinal tract and impairment of thiamine utilization in the cells10.

Therefore, supplementation with thiamine is important to make up for the deficiency due to alcohol intoxication.

FAQ

What does Hovenia dulcis do?
Hovenia Dulcis enhances the activity of the enzymes which break down toxins from alcohol.
Why do we get facial flushing from alcohol?
Alcohol is broken down into a toxic substance called acetaldehyde in our body. An accumulation of acetaldehyde widens the blood vessels to cause redness and warm feeling which is known as flushing.
Why can’t I take more than 9 capsules of LiviUp®?
The maximum human dose of dihydromyricetin used in clinical studies is 2300mg. Therefore, you should not exceed more than 9 capsules as each capsule contains 250mg of dihydromyricetin.

Shujun K, 28

So my friend barely drinks alcohol because it makes her turn very red and become nauseous. Her normal limit is less than half a glass of champagne. So she tried 2 LiviUp pills and was able to have 1 full drink. Her Asian glow was very mild after the drink and she did not feel any nausea.

Nivia S, 27

One night I had a heavy drinking session with my friends, shots and all. With LiviUp, I need not worry about my health and wake up the next day with zero hangover! Thanks LiviUp (second-time user)

Cindy C, 26

LiviUp has been really helpful with my hangovers. It allows me to enjoy nights of heavy drinking without having to dread the hangovers the following day. My friends find it effective too!
